Principal's Message

 Dear parents/guardians and students,

I would really like to welcome everyone and am looking forward to a great 2023-2024 school year.  I am extremely excited and humbled to serve as Principal of Alternative Ed which includes, Mendota Adult School, Continuation, and Community Day .  I can assure everyone that the staff is ready to provide a high quality education to our students in all our programs.  Not only are we planning to set high academic standards, we plan to provide a wide ranging array of supports to our students and community members in order to set them up for success. 

I am going in to my 10th year her at Mendota Unified.  I have spent the last 8 years at Mendota High School where I started as a Guidance Instructional Specialist, transitioned to a Vice Principal and was also Wonderful Ag Prep Program Coordinator.  Additional duties and responsibilities included working closely with our FFA program and serving as our Career Techichal Education Director.  I oversaw our programs in Welding, Automotive, Floral, Construction, Business, and Advanced Sustainabile Agriculture.  My background also includes working seven years as a high school counselor and five years as a social worker at a private foster care agency.   I have a passion of working with children and families and plan to use all my experience to provide quality educational programs and services for our students. 

This upcoming year we plan to have students set clear goals, challenge them to show up every day, give 100 percent in class, exercise good behavior, and take ownership of their education.  We, in turn, will be able to open up opportunities in different areas (Career Technical Education, West Hills College courses, credit recovery, extra curricular activities, etc.) as long as students are willing to take on the challenge and abide by school rules. 

Every student that is enrolled will receive individualized attention and a clear academic plan.  We will have a strong focus on college and career awareness.  Students will get step by step instructions in regards to what classes they need to take in order to get back on track to graduate.  They will be provided assistance in achieving their postsecondary goals (military, community college, 4 year college, entering the workforce, apprenticeship, etc.)

Estimados padres/tutores y estudiantes,

Realmente me gustaría dar la bienvenida a todos a nuestra increíble escuela. Estoy extremadamente emocionado y honrado de servir como Director de Continuación de Mendota. Puedo asegurarles a todos que el personal está listo para brindar una educación de alta calidad a nuestros estudiantes. No solo planeamos establecer altos estándares académicos, planeamos brindar una amplia gama de apoyos a nuestros estudiantes para prepararlos para el éxito.

Voy a entrar a mi décima año en Mendota Unified. Pasé los últimos 8 años en Mendota High School, donde comencé como especialista en instrucción de orientación, hice la transición a subdirector y también fui coordinadora del programa Wonderful Ag Prep. Los deberes y responsabilidades adicionales incluyeron trabajar en estrecha colaboración con nuestro programa FFA y servir como nuestro Director de Educación de Career Techichal. Supervisé nuestros programas en Soldadura, Automotriz, Floral, Construcción, Negocios y Agricultura Sustentable Avanzada. Mis antecedentes también incluyen trabajar siete años como consejero de escuela secundaria y cinco años como trabajador social en una agencia privada de crianza temporal. Me apasiona trabajar con niños y familias y planeo usar toda mi experiencia para brindar una educación de calidad a nuestros estudiantes.

Este próximo año planeamos que los estudiantes establezcan metas claras, pedirles que asistan todos los días, dar el 100 por ciento en clase, ejercer un buen comportamiento y tomar posesión de su educación. Nosotros, a su vez, podremos abrir oportunidades en diferentes áreas (educación técnica profesional, cursos de West Hills College, recuperación de créditos, etc.) si los estudiantes están dispuestos a asumir la responsabilidad y cumplir con las reglas de la escuela.

Cada estudiante que se inscriba recibirá atención individualizada y un plan académico claro. Los estudiantes recibirán instrucciones paso a paso con respecto a las clases que deben tomar para volver a encaminarse para graduarse. Se les brindará asistencia para lograr sus objetivos postsecundarios (militar, colegio comunitario, universidad de 4 años, ingreso a la fuerza laboral, etc.)
